Radha Kunda and Shyama Kunda
In Sri Navadvipa Dham, Sri Radha Kunda has manifested Herself in three places: in the island of Rtudvipa , Antardvipa and Mayapur
https://9isl.blogspot.com/search/label/Ritudvipa
In the island of Antardvipa, at the house of Candrasekar Acarya the maternal uncle of Mahaprabhu, is the Sri Caitanya Math, which is the headquarters of Gaudiya Math established by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. Under guidance and instruction of Sarasvati Thakura, his disciples brought the sacred waters, Giriraja silas from the sacred Govardhana Hill, and the Tamala and Keli Kadamba trees from Vrindavan and . Being constantly absorbed in meditation, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura saw these holy places to be manifested and present in the Math.

In Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir, on the day of Bahulastami, Radha Kunda and Syama Kunda are manifested in two beautifully constructed ponds on the platform below the alter of Sri Sri Radha Madhava. The kundas are decorated with lotuses, lamps and many beautiful shrubs and plants. Devotees are given the opportunity to bathe in these kundas, by sprinkling drops of this sacred water on their heads.
Ritudvipa
- One says, ‘Sri Krishnacandra will appear in Nadia.’
- Another says, ‘The Lord will manifest His wonderful pastimes and increase our happiness with every moment.’
- Another season asks, ‘When will that Vrajendra-nandana appear as Gaurahari to multiply our bliss?’
- Yet another replies, ‘Narada Muni has announced everywhere that Lord Gaurahari will appear during the first part of Kali-yuga.’
- One of them asks, ‘Tell us, what is the time of His incarnation?’
- Another one replies, ‘Vasanta-ritu (the spring season) is the most fortunate.’ Vasanta season is very happy to hear this and begins to praise her good fortune. All the seasons (ritus) along with ritu-raja Vasanta (vasanta season, the king of all seasons) started to meditate constantly on the advent of the Lord.
In the Navadvipa Bhava Taranga, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura writes the mood and activities of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu as He came to Rtudvipa.

Sri Jiva inquired from Sri Nityananda Prabhu, in order to remove his doubts,
“The knowledge of sankhya and logic is very inauspicious. How then did these sciences remain here in the eternal dhama?”

Bhishma Tila
Jahnu Muni’s Asram, Bhishma-tila
This place situated not far from the Navadwipa – Katva road, not far from the turn to the side of Mamgachi and mentioned with huge Banyan tree. Bhaktivinod Thakur says that before here was not big forest for ascetics and later the attractive palace of Jahnu Muni. In “Navadwipa bhava Taranga” it says that: “In the north to Vidyanagar there is shining Jahnudwipa, where the Temple for renounced people is seen, which belongs to Jahnu Muni. There Jahnu Muni drank Ganges and later she became as his daughter Jahnavi.

Decadence of Ganges
This story is explained in the 9th Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam.
By the request of the sage Aurva, Maharaja sagara did ashvamedhya yagya and by that pleased the Supreme Personality of Godhead – Supreme Controller, who is in everyone's heart. But king of heavens Indra stole the sacrifice horse.
Proud of their power sons of Sumati by the request of their father went to look for that horse. Wishing to find it they started to dig the ground.
In the north – east they found the lost horse which was feed at the ashram of Kapila Muni. “This is the person who stole the horse” they cried out. “He is sitting with closed eyes. It might he is a great sinner. Kill him! Kill him!” with these words all 60 thousand sons of king Sagar took their guns. But when they came close to the sage, he opened his eyes.
Being cheated by Indra sons of Sagar offended the great sage. Because of that their bodies fired up and their bodies turned into ashes.
Later the grand son of king Sagar Amshuman went in search for the horse. Following the same path as his uncles Amshuman reached the place where he found ashes and nearby saw the lost horse jumper. Great Amshman also saw the great sage Kapila Muni – the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Amshuman paid his humble obeisance and offered his prayers.
Supreme Lord told: “Dear Amshuman, here it is the animal which your father searched for. Take it! And your uncles can be delivered only with the waters of Ganges, not in any other way…
King Amshuman and his father for a long time performed austerities but they could not bring Ganges to this material world. Later king left his body.
As like his father Amshuman Dilipa also was not able to bring Ganges to this world. By the time he also meet with death. Then Bhagiratha son of Dilipa wishing to bring Ganges to this world started to perform severe austerities. Some times later Mother Ganges appeared to king Bhagiratha and told: “I am very much pleased with Your austerity and ready to fulfill your any desire.” Hearing these words of Gangadevi king paid his obeisance and revealed to her his wished.
Mother Ganges told: “Oh king, I do not want to come to this Earth, because people will take bath in my waters and wash their sins. If those sins get collected in me how will become free from them? Please think of that seriously.”
Bhagiratha told: “That who became pure by performing devotional service and because of that free from material desires; who strictly follows the rules of scriptures; who always lives pure life and is able to liberate all fallen souls. When such like Devotees will take bath in Your waters all those sins done by sinful people will be washed away because they always carry the Supreme Personality of Godhead in their hearts who is the remover of all sins.”
When king Bhagiratha requested Lord Shiva to accept for himself great waters of Ganges, he was agreed and told let it be as you want. From that time Lord Shiva started to keep waters of Ganges on his head, whose waters have great power of purification, because She takes Her beginning from the Lotus feet of Lord Vishnu.
Great king Bhagiratha sent Ganges to the place where his uncles’ ashes were. King Bhagiratha rose up to his fast chariot and run before Mother Ganges, who followed him purifying many countries.
Maharaja Bhagiratha and Jahnu Muni
The path of Bhagiratha went through present Navadwipa also. Somewhere in those places son of Hotraka great sage Jahnu Muni used to perform his austerities. He was sitting repeating Gayatri mantra with the desire to have darshan of Lord Gauranga. Flowing nearby those places mistakenly Ganges washed away Muni’s glass for achaman. Seeing this Jahnu Muni became very angry and drank all Ganges. Such like strength he took by devotional service.
After some time Bhagiratha mentioned that Ganges does not follow him anymore and went back to check what has happened. Seeing the sage and knowing that he drank the Ganges he started to serve to the sage begging him to bring Her back. After some days Jahnu Muni was agreed and Mother Ganges came out from his ear. Bhagiratha and Ganges went further. It says that time when Ganges meet with Jahnu Muni she divided herself into many flows which created Navadwipa – 9 islands.
After that Ganges was known as Jahnavi – daughter of Jahnu Muni.
Being pleased with Jahnu Muni Lord Gauranga appeared before him. Jahnu Muni prayed to the Lord so that he would be able to take birth again and again in Navadwipa. Lord was agreed and promised him that in the future he will be a victim of Sankirtana movement.

Bhishma Tila
Bhishma Tila is situated a kilometer away from the ashram if Jahnu Muni but it is not marked with anything.
Bhishmadev was the son of king Shantanu and Ganga Devi. Jahnu who was the father of Ganges was his grand father. Graduating the studies in the heavenly planets under the guidance of Bwihaspati Bhishma came to Navadwipa to visit Jahnu Muni. Building up not a big hut nearby the ashram of Jahnu Muni he started to learn from him all material and spiritual knowledge.
Besides science Jahnu Muni told to Bhishmadev about Lord Gauranga. Later, at his death bed made of arrows he spoke to Yudhishtra many of those teaching and also told about Lord Gauranga:
Suvarna-varna hemango varangash chandanangadi
“His body, with sandal paste and which is very beautiful, with His effulgence He reminds about melted gold.” (“Mahabharata” Dharma dana parva, 189, “Vishnu sahasra nama stotra”, 79)
Sannyasa krich chamah shanto nishtha shanty parayanah
“He will appear as renounced sannyasa, unperturbed and serene. He is the great abode of peace and devotion, who forces atheists and impersonalists to be quite.”

Instructions of Bhishmadev
In his “Navadwipa bhava Taranga” Bhaktivinod Thakur writes:
“This Jahnudvipa is not other than the forest Bhadravana in Vraj. When I will be able to see that forest? There, on the top of Bhishma Tila – very pure, I will perform my bhajan.
When will come evening and before me appears Bhishma in his spiritual body. Darkish as like Krishna; he will have Tulasi beads on his hands; he will have marks of Tilaka on 12 places of his body; and in great ecstasy he will chant the Holy Names.
https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Tulsi
https://harekrishnainfo.blogspot.com/search/label/Tilak
https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Mantra
“Please, hear me oh that who came to Navadwipa, now I will glorify the glories of Lord Gauranga. Before when I was dying at the battle field of Kurukshetra I saw Krishna before me. Lord told to me: “Sometimes ago you took darshan of Navadwipa, because of that you will got the mercy of Lord Gauranga. From this time you can live in Navadwipa eternally.
Please leave all your desires and endeavors, just stay in Navadwipa and worship to Gaurahari. From now you should not be fearful of burdens of material things, since you are now for sure will achieve the lotus feet of Gauranga.
By the mercy of the Lord, liberated souls will be able to see here the pastimes of Gaura and Krishna. Here is no any fear, sorrow, death – nothing which brings worries and also material desires. Here are no sufferings.
https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Gau
All pure Devotees deepened into the ocean of happiness, tasting the nectarine service to Krishna. They do not see sufferings, they do not have material desires – they are always here in their spiritual bodies and their desires are pure.
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, of whose Devotees not possible to count is always performing here His pastimes answering to the desires of His Devotees.
https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/Devotion
This land is unlimited; it does not have any connection with this material world, because here dominates spiritual energy.
It is arranged by Lord so that until one is in this material body and intelligence is attached to this temporary world one is not able to see the original spiritual abode.
But by the mercy of that Lord only you will get spiritual body. Material illusion will be vanished and you will be able to feel unlimited bliss in this spiritual abode.
https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/MaterialVsNonMaterialUniverse
But for this time you will remain in material body, not forgetting sadhana bhakti for a second. Always serve to Devotees, chant the Holy Names of Krishna, worship Radha Krishna and keep indifference to material enjoyments.
You will have blessing of the Devotees, the Holy Dhama, the Holy Names but keep yourself away from unwanted association. And soon you will reach the Holy Land where everyone serve to Sri Sri Radha and Krishna.
https://freeglobaluniversity.blogspot.com/search/label/RadhaKrishna
Hearing the instructions of Bhishmadev I will pay to him my obeisance. Blessing me he will disappear and in tears I will go to the forest of Modadruma."

Why Radharani Created Sri Navadvipa-Dhama
Lord Siva told Parvati, “As a bee plays in a lotus, Krsna was enjoying with Viraja in the pleasant forest groves of Vrndavana. Moon-faced, doe-eyed Radhika heard this news from one sakhi and hastily ran to find Krsna.
Seeing that Radha was coming, Krsna suddenly disappeared and Viraja became a river. When Srimati Radharani arrived there, She could not find them. Absorbed in thoughts of Krsna, Radha began to think of how to attract Him away from Viraja.
“She gathered her sakhis together between the Ganga and Yamuna Rivers. She created a beautiful place, decorated with creepers and trees and filled with male and female bumblebees. Deer and bucks were happy enjoing as they wandered about, and the whole area was filled with the fragrance of jasmine, mallika, and malati flowers. That transcendental abode was adorned with tulasi forests and decorated with varous groves. On Radha’s order, the Ganga and Yamuna, with their pleasant water and banks, acted as a moat to protect the garden. Cupid himself, along with springtime, eternally resides there, and the birds constantly sing the auspicious name of Krsna.
“Radha, dressed in colorful cloth, then began to play a beautiful melody on a flute in order to attract Krsna. Attracted by that melody, Krsna appeared in that enchanting place. Radha, the attractor of Krsna’s mind, seeing that Krsna had come, held His hand and experienced ecstatic delight. Then Krsna, understanding Radha’s mood, spoke in a voice choked with love.
“O lovely-faced Radha, You are My very life. There is no one more dear to Me than You. Therefore I will never leave You. Just for Me You have created this wonderful place. Staying with You, I will transform this place, filling it with new sakhis and groves. The devotees will glorify this place as New (nava) Vrndavana. As this place is like an island (dvipa), the wise will call it Navadvipa. By My order, all the holy places will reside here. Because You have created this place for My pleasure, I will live here eternally. Those people who come here and worship us will eternally attain our eternal service in the mood of the sakhis. O dear Radha, like Vrndavana, this place is extremely pure. If anyone comes here just once, he will obtain the results of going to all sacred places. He will quickly attain devotional service, which satisfies us.’
“O Parvati, “Lord Siva continued, “I have described to you the reason for the appearance of Navadvipa. When heard by mankind, this narration removes all sins and bestows devotional service. Whoever rises early in the morning and with devotion to Gaura recites or hears this story of Navadvipa’s creation will certainly attain Gauranga.”

9 Islands of Navadvipa Dham => Navadha Bhakti
The area of Sri Navadvipa Dhama is divided into nine divisions, called islands. Within the central island of Antardvipa is Mayapur. This entire area is considered a holy place. Each one of these divisions represents one of the nine processes of devotional service. The nine divisions are:
1) Antardvipa, Sri Mayapur (surrendering everything);
2) Simantadvipa (hearing);
3) Godrumadvipa (chanting);
4) Madhyadvipa (remembering);
5) Koladvipa (serving the lotus feet);
6) Ritudvipa (worshipping);
7) Jahnudvipa (praying);
8) Modadrumadvipa (being a servant); and
9) Rudradvipa (being a friend).
When you do Gaura Mandala Parikrama you visit each island in the order that is listed.

Story
Just as in Mayapur when we go to the Simantadwip we tell the story about how Mayadevi saw Lord Siva laughing and asked him why he was laughing and he said well he was thinking of Caitanya Mahaprabhu ‘Gauranga!’ She said as I even hear this name ‘Gauranga’ my hairs are standing on the end – who is this Gauranga? He said “He is the golden avatar of Krishna.” She said “I want to meet him.” Devi said (Parvathi) “How can I meet Him?” And he explained to her who Caitanya Mahaprabhu was and she went to Navadwip Dham and worshipped there. There she could meet Him. So she went to one of the islands near our Jagannath temple and began to worship Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Gauranga.
Constantly meditating on His transcendental lotus feet, chanting His holy name until finally chanting Gauranga Gauranga jaya Gauranga jaya Gauranga, then Lord Caitanya appeared to her with His hair tied up in a brahminical fashion with a flower in the hair and with His lotus eyes going to His ears , His golden form effulgent like the form of Srimati Radharani and His broad chest and thin waist thin like a lion and His arms going down to His knees “ajanulambhitha bujau” and lotus and colorful scented flower garland with bumble bees flying around trying to taste the nectar from His flower garland , from His lotus feet. In this way Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in His transcendentally effulgent form as the golden avatar to mother Paravthi. She fell down at His feet and offered her obeisance. “What do you want, my mother?” said Lord Caitanya.
Mother Parvathi said, “My Lord, You are giving pure love for Krishna to everyone without considering who is qualified, who is unqualified. How will I get delivered by Your transcendental mercy. This is Your quality of unlimited compassion.
I am no better devotee than Maya. I put the (bring) living entities out of Your devotional service and keep them in ignorance. And the devotees, they always criticize me saying Krishna should just come up “krishna -- surya-sama; Maya haya andhakara, yahan krishna, tahan nahi Mayara adhikara” wherever there is Krishna, there is no Maya. That means eternally I am cursed to not be present before You, to not have Your mercy, while everyone is getting your mercy I won’t get. Is this my misfortune never to get Your love for Krishna never to get pure devotion of Your lotus feet? When will I understand what is the highest mercy, the highest mercy, the highest love in pure devotion?”
So Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu took the dust from His lotus feet and put it on her head. So Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “My dear mother Parvathi, you should know that you are the expansion of Yoga Maya, you are ultimately the expansion of Srimati Radharani, you are necessary for me to enjoy my pastimes in this material world. You are the expansion of Srimati Radharani, you are external energy. So here in the holy Dham you are praudha Maya. Praudha Maya, means that here and in Vrindavan you are Pauranamasi. You arrange the devotional service and moods of the devotees and protect the Dham from the Maya intruders.
So, in this way, He blessed her that she could understand at that moment her non-difference from Srimati Radharani as she was the external energy. And she could understand her connection and she came into the mood of pure devotional service, appreciation and love for Krishna and Caitanya Mahaprabhu. She became overwhelmed with ecstatic symptoms and there she resides. Lord Caitanya informed her as praudha Maya; Lord Siva will come as Vriddha Siva in Navadwip Dham. And she keeps those who have not accepted the relationship with Caitanya Mahaprabhu, she keeps them in ignorance and those who have surrendered to Caitanya Mahaprabhu who has accepted their internal relationship as His devotee, she increases their transcendental humor for the Lord. So Maha-maya, she is a great devotee.
